Rescue your Next Pet!

Good Morning Fort Lauderdale & Pompano Beach,

I would like to a moment to ask people considering a new pet to take a serious look at pet adoption. There are so many reason pet adoption should be the 1st choice for finding new pets. Besides the fact that you will get a beautiful, grateful pet, here are some reasons to always consider adopting a pet rather than buying a pet at a pet store.

1. Help shut down the in-humane practice of puppy mills. Puppy mills create a miserable existence for dogs forced to repeatedly breed in typically very unsanitary conditions. Worse yet is the fact that once these animals are past their "prime", meaning they are no longer producing, they are often put down. It is a sad life in a puppy mill.

2. Pets adopted through a rescue or shelter are already spayed and neutered and in most cases are current on their shots.

3. Many adopted pets are usually already trained and housebroken.

4. You will feel great about helping an animal in need!

I believe there is a misconception that rescue dogs were given up to shelters due to bad behavior. Most often the is NOT the case at all. Sadly, most shelter and rescue pets end up homeless because their humans did not take the responsibility of pet ownership seriously.

Once again, please consider adopting your next pet from a shelter or rescue. Below are some areas to start looking.

Florida Humane Society 954-570-9507 www.floridahumanesociety.org
Humane Society of Broward County 954-266-6826

Also note there are many breed specific rescues in our area.
You can find a list on www.floridapetpages.com

Thanks in advance for adopting a pet in need! And don't forget to call Paws at Play for professional pet care!

Thank you for taking the time to create this insightful blog space! I agree that pet adoption is an important topic, and I am appreciative of you sharing it so eloquently.

As much as I and the dogs and cat miss you in Denver, I hope that Florida is treating you well! And please let me know if you want some more testimonials for your site - I would be very glad to share my exceptional experience with Paws at Play from the last several years.

Warmest wishes,
Kelly Larson
